What if I tell you there is no purpose of life?

What is the purpose of life? - The question every man asks themself at some point in their life. Some people say they have found their life's purpose and some people fail to find it in their lifetime.

Why is it so hard to find one's purpose in life? How should you find your purpose? Can someone guide you to find it? Does your life have no value without a purpose? Can you not live a fulfilling life without a purpose?

Those are the questions that haunted me for the major part of my life. I spent sleepless nights asking myself those questions. Sometimes, I used to worry that I may not figure out my purpose in this life; That thought was so scary. After trying my hand at several different things and after reading and listening to all the popular so-called enlightened people who claim they figured out life, I came to the conclusion there is no point in searching for the purpose of life, because life itself is pointless. I'm not saying this out of hopelessness, but by being fully conscious about how life works.

I know what you are thinking, Stupid, why are we born if there's no purpose in life? Go grab a beer and have a good night's sleep. This lockdown is turning you crazy.

I respect your opinion. But, could you spare a few minutes to read my reason to believe there's no purpose in life, and it may change your opinion too?

Man always wanted a reason to do something. The question "Why" is very important in our lives. Why should I do that? Why should I go there? Why should I study? Why should I make friends? Why should I respect people? Why should I love my country? Why should I believe in God? Why should I follow a religion? The questions never end until we die.

"Why should I do it?", is the same thing as asking "What's in it for me?". We give value to something only when we get something out of it? Isn't it true? When was the last time you did something without asking "Why should I do it"? Probably never.

There is absolutely nothing wrong in asking "Why" before doing anything? Reasoning is what makes the unique person you are. But, can we just spare life from asking "Why"?

Doesn't it sound foolish to think that you were put on this planet to do something, with a purpose; To achieve something? If at all God exists and God has a purpose for your being, He would've dropped you out of your mother's womb with a sticker on your ass saying what you are destined to do. God would definitely not let you waste all the precious years of your life figuring out what to do, and by the time you think you figured out your purpose, most of you are already old.

We give too much importance to our existence. We want to believe that we are born to do something. A writer, dancer, entrepreneur, singer, chef, musician, philosopher, priest, scientist and all the rest of it.
Isn't it just to get a pseudo-satisfaction that we are making something out of life, and we are someone?

So, when people say they have found their purpose in their life. What exactly is it that they call their purpose or calling in life? The so-called purpose is something that which you are good at, that gives you identity and makes you successful. (Successful in the widely accepted terms of earning a respectable position in the society and generating wealth)

Do we see the reality that we spend our lives not enjoying what we do and hoping we will somehow stumble upon our
true passion some fine day? When we find that so-called purpose, can you actually experience the other aspects of life with the same intent you had before finding your purpose?

There are a million things to do in this world and one can never get to try all of them in this short life we have. Without even experiencing everything there is how do we determine we are only good at one thing and that itself is our purpose?

So, can we just stop asking "Why" for at least once in life for life's sake?
